The Berry Pickers

This is a story about two families, one of privilege with one child and the other of a hard working family with 5 children. Tragedy hits the hard working family not once but twice, loosing 2 of their five children. . They pick berries for a living and are of Native American heritage.
The family of privilege never faces tragedy although the mother has anxiety and fears that manifest’s itself as severe headaches. Their lives are lived in monotone colors. The daughter starts to question her heritage.
These lives are intertwined in unexpected ways. Coming to a climax as the children get older and lies and truths unfold.
This premier novel is beautifully written and the banter is enticing and realistic. It is a fast paced book I finished it in 3 days. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy historical fiction and mystery novels. I look forward to reading more by this author.
