This was not one of my favorite reads of the month. I gave it a rating of 3.5 ⭐️ with closed door spice. There was a lot of characters to keep track of and stories to follow. The Briar Club is a women’s home (Briarwood home) in Washington DC in the 1950s. The cast of characters includes a single mom (whose husband is in South Korea), an aging artist who works in the library, and a woman whose past is unknown. Each character’s story is told as it relates to the others. This found family story is interesting and is sometimes fun to read. Two disastrous events throws the house and its residents into crisis mode. What’s to become of the house and the residents? I think if I read this under different circumstances I would really enjoy it. I recommend reading this book for it’s beautiful writing and history.
